The Sound of Music

At ClassAction we believe in creativity and that young people should be able to develop their creative talent and craft and make a powerful contribution to society. For over 20 years, ClassAction has successfully nurtured creative skills in students alongside a robust and full academic education. ClassAction offers young people the tools to begin their journey carving out a career, the space to think and the environment to be themselves. We offer a playground with professional boundaries where the raw talent of 16–18 year olds meets the nurturing expertise of the ClassAction faculty.

We are story tellers and this Christmas, ClassAction took the 66 year old, timeless classic The Sound of Music, and dug down to find the real story underneath the shine. The Sound of Music confronts themes that still resonate today: resisting authoritarianism and the rise of the right wing, standing up for moral conviction, and choosing humanity over compliance. The Von Trapps’ decision to flee rather than support a regime they oppose turns their personal journey into a statement of integrity and quiet rebellion.

Featuring a cast of 40 talented practitioners and technicians, and packed with the timeless classics known to everyone, this isn't a show we ever anticipated producing but classics persist for a reason so we decided to unpick and look afresh at this 66 year old work. As they say ... if you can't beat them, join them - but do it the ClassAction way.

The production creatives were Luca Cipollone, Tari More and Andrew Pullen, the production dazzled audiences with its vibrant energy and feel-good charm.

“An amazing show” … “It was incredible and emotional” … “There was laughter and tears, well done to you all … simply outstanding” (Audience Members)
